A 10-year plan launches to serve more homeless neighbors

In 1932, a group of Seattle residents were inspired by their Christian faith to serve those severely impacted by the Great Depression. With just a soup kettle, donated food, and a handful of volunteers, the Mission began to bring the love of Jesus and hope for a new life to our homeless neighbors.

From where we started to where we are today is humbling. Through God’s grace and generous support from volunteers and donors, our programs now encompass Search + Rescue, emergency and enhanced shelter, long-term recovery, counseling, case management, job training, and more.

The Mission has become a leader in addressing homelessness in the greater Seattle area. It would be easy to look back and bask in these accomplishments. Instead, in August of 2021, leaders of the Mission launched an intensive review of our programs while also reviewing the best practices nationally from other missions. Jesus blessed us with inspiration — we can be even better; we can do even more.

In the year of our 90th Anniversary, we’re launching Project Cornerstone — a 10-year plan to increase the reach and success of our programs — enabling us to serve more homeless neighbors more effectively. Over the next months, you will hear about changes to our programs related to Project Cornerstone in hopes that you will be as excited as we are with our plans to improve again.

Thank you for your past support, and we hope that you will continue to support us through the next 10 years. Our hope is that on our 100th Anniversary we can look back, together, and once again be humbled by the significant changes and tremendous impact we have made on our community together.
