Leave a Lasting Legacy

We invite you to make a lasting investment in Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission, advancing our mission as we address root causes and break the cycle of homelessness by meeting urgent physical needs, building relationships, and offering long-term recovery programs, as we have done for more than 90 years!

Our planned giving consultation is confidential and designed to support you in accomplishing your charitable goals.

Leave a Planned Gift in your will

Gifts by will are one of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission most important sources of support. Unrestricted gifts give us the greatest flexibility to use funds where they are most needed for our neighbors.

You may leave the Mission:

  • A stated dollar amount

  • A percentage of your residual estate (what remains after gifts to loved ones and expenses have been paid), or

  • Specific liquid assets, such as securities

Name the Mission as a beneficiary

Naming Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission as a beneficiary on your retirement account or life insurance policy is a simple and powerful way to support the lifesaving work of our organization without changing your will or living trust. Beneficiary designation gifts pass directly to the Mission without going through the probate process and go right to work to help us see every homeless neighbor beloved, redeemed, and restored.

Retirement accounts

Many of our donors name the Mission as a beneficiary of all or a specified percentage of their IRA, 401(k), 403(b), or other retirement plan.

Individuals who inherit retirement plan assets are usually required to pay income tax on them, so they're often considered among the best assets to leave to charity.

How to name the Mission as a beneficiary on your retirement accounts

Ask your retirement plan administrator or financial institution for a change of beneficiary form. Please list us as:

Legal Name:Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission
Address: PO Box 202 Seattle, WA 98111-0202
Federal Tax ID #: 91-0595029

Notify us of your beneficiary designation

Please let us know when you’ve made a beneficiary designation for the Mission so that we can thank you and include you in our Peterson Heritage Society, our group for legacy giving members.

If you have a life insurance policy that is no longer needed for your family, designating the Mission as a beneficiary is a simple way to support our work.
