School is over and 400 at-risk youth are showing up at our Youth Reach Out Center for summer camp. Every morning these kids will have the opportunity to polish their math, reading and writing skills. But they are in need of school supplies and healthy snacks.
What’s so special about camp? This is the reality for many kids that come to camp each summer. What they really need is the chance to just be a kid. Camp enables them to escape the pressure and the uncertainty of the city and gives them the chance to explore the wonder of an outdoors they rarely see. They get to learn new things like how to boat, swim and hike. They play games and put on skits. They have experiences they would never have at home. And get to be around adults who have time to spend just with them, to listen and tell them how much they love them. About how much God loves them. Without a glimpse of something more, at-risk youth turn to what they know. You can help give them a that chance. Any help is greatly appreciated!
The items listed above can be dropped off at 3800 South Othello Street, Seattle, To donate click here. For more information about summer camp, please contact Marianne at 206.723.0767 x209. |
