An Invitation from the Rockstads
Jim and Mo Rockstad would like to invite local churches, organizations and groups to join with Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission in a “Feed The Hungry Challenge”
The Goal: to raise $2,200 to provide the meals (1200) for one day at the Mission between Thanksgiving and Christmas, when the need is greatest. Whatever amount a church is able to contribute will provide much needed meals for those who are hungry.
How: A representative from each group will receive materials from the Mission that will assist them in networking to help raise funds for the 1200 meals.

The story behind the challenge . . .
After receiving a $100 bill from their pastor and the call to “spread the influence of Jesus in our world,” Jim and Mo Rockstad took the cause to heart. He noticed an ad in the newspaper about Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission’s (UGM) need for donations for Thanksgiving meals.
He contacted the Mission for marketing materials, and then set out to grow the $100.
They printed fifty or so letters, distributed them to their neighbors, and mailed them to friends and old business associates.
“We prayed and waited to see what would happen,” said Jim. “There were less than two weeks to go before Thanksgiving…would we raise a few hundred dollars or could we get up near our goal of $2,200?”
To their surprise, they received phone calls, checks in the mail and money from those they didn’t even know! The results were absolutely amazing to them…the goal was surpassed! They raised $3,540, which would provide over 1,900 meals!
“So many people wanted to give with open hearts for this special time of need. To say the least, this was an overwhelming experience!” said Jim.
