Country Save Corporation of Arlington recently donated 18,000 pounds of laundry detergent to homeless men, women and families living at Mission shelters. On any given night, over 300 people struggling with homelessness find refuge at the Mission. An average week of laundry consists of over 650 loads of laundry. This donation helps ensure children go to school with clean clothes and that homeless men, women and children have clean towels and bedding during their stay.
“A lot of the folks [the Mission helps] don’t have the money to buy basic things. We thought the Mission could use it,” said Kris Anderson, president of Country Save. “We believe that every person struggling through tough times can make a comeback with the Mission’s help. There are a lot of ways companies can get involved, just like we did by donating laundry detergent.”
“Our mission is to meet the needs of all the men, women and children staying at the Mission. That includes making sure they have clean blankets to sleep with,” said Herb Pfiffner, executive director of Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. “The donation from Country Save is helping Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission to save money, and continue to meet the needs of those we serve.”
