11 Year Old Helps Homeless People

Madison Middle school student Amanda Curtis recently donated 18 fleece scarves that she personally made, to homeless people at Seattle’s Union Gospel Mission. She got the idea after driving to a birthday party at a local ice-skating rink. She saw a homeless individual standing outside in the freezing temperatures and decided she wanted to help.

At home, she was already making fleece blankets as Christmas gifts for her family so she decided to use some of the fleece and make them into scarves. She and her mom then delivered them to the Mission’s Men’s Shelter.

“There are a lot of people freezing and I made scarves to keep them a little warmer,” said Amanda.

Thanks to people like Amanda, homeless individuals are staying warmer. If you’d like to help, please contact Linda at 206.723.0676.
