Walking alongside our homelessness neighbors
Homelessness is a complicated issue in our city and region that often feels overwhelming.
KentHOPE exists to provide meals, shelter, clothing and meet the basic needs of women and children experiencing homelessness in our community. We are dedicated to walking alongside our guests on their journey out of homelessness. We can’t do this work without you, our dedicated volunteers. However, volunteering at a homeless shelter can feel like a daunting or even scary undertaking. You may have found yourself wondering or asking…
"What will I say to them?"
"We have nothing in common, how can I possibly help?"
"Is it safe?"
"They don't want me to bug them"
KentHOPE is offering a training with practical ways to serve our guests and those in need in our community. We will take a close look at the impact and effects of trauma and how do we serve those around us in a trauma-informed manner. Have you thought about providing a meal for our hungry and homeless neighbors? Just one meal could be the first step in getting a woman and her children off the streets for good.
