From Chicago's gang-infested ghetto, Lionel emerged a hardened addict.
Surprisingly, he found a decent job here in Seattle as a baker. But when this local bakery was forced to close its doors, Lionel found himself living out of a car -- every dime spent on his addiction.
After three weeks with no food, Lionel literally stumbled into the Mission, and asked for a meal. Because of the meal and care he received at the Mission, he decided to enter the recovery program.
Today, Lionel is a forever-changed man. "I have the Holy Spirit in me," he says of his new life. "I love my neighbors . . . I take care of myself . . . I know I'm not a threat to society. I'm moving forward with my family. That's what your [giving] does for guys like me . . . it changes lives."
