Changed Lives - Luisa's Story
Miguel's Story
We found Miguel lying on a bench along the waterfront, with his wheelchair next to him. Unprotected from the wet and cold, he was more than miserable. He was in mortal danger.
Fortunately, Miguel let us help. It was close to midnight by the time we got Miguel back to our Men’s Shelter. We were able to enroll him in our Extended Care Program, and in just one month, Miguel recuperated enough to get out of his wheelchair and walk with a cane! During this time, he also attended Bible studies and recovery meetings, renewing his faith in God and his commitment to healthy living.

Later, our case manager helped him find safe, sober housing with his family. Every day, Miguel is grateful to be off the streets, clean, sober and able to walk. But most of all, he appreciates his relationship with God.
Miguel is just one example of the lives you can CHANGE through Winter Rescue. Over 100 people die nameless on the streets of Seattle and neighboring communities each year, most of them during the rainy, cold months from October to March. The average age is just 48!
Your renewed partnership can give men like Miguel a second chance at life, off the cold, wet streets for good.
