Kurt's Story

Kurt came to Seattle to escape life on the streets. But when he arrived, he found that he needed more than a change in location to overcome resentment and rebellion from his past. He needed life-transforming help and addiction recovery. “I came here to the Mission and told myself that I wouldn’t leave until I got some help. I wasn’t going back out on the streets,” says Kurt.

When he was homeless, Kurt often spent his days digging through trash, finding food in dumpsters. “I had a route that I would take,” says Kurt. “I knew when a butcher put his food out, and when fast food places put out their breakfast food.”

Through the Mission’s recovery programs, Kurt has found joy in Jesus Christ.
