"I know it was God..."

Like so many desperate men and women in Seattle, Anthony came to us because he was hungry and had nowhere to go. That first meal came with an offer of help to end the 25-year cocaine addiction that had ruined his life.

When Anthony came to the Mission, he was newly homeless. Addiction to cocaine had ruined his life. It took away his family, his home and his money. He had no idea where he was going and found the Mission. It was there he heard about the recovery program while in the Mission’s chapel service.

Anthony recalls, "They gave a message about wandering in the wilderness. I thought, ‘That’s what I’m doing.’ Then I ate lunch and 30 minutes later, I was in the program. That’s how I got here . . . I know it was God."

Before coming to the Mission, Anthony had never gone to church. He didn’t know God. He came from wandering in that wilderness and now he goes to church, prayer meetings each Monday, and meets with a mentor. But most of all, Anthony has God in his life. "I’m very grateful for this Mission. I never thought my life would turn out like this. But I’m very happy. God is definitely in this place!"
